World Skål Day: Skål International Port Harcourt donates palliatives to Home for the Elderly
Skål International Port Harcourt celebrates World Skål Day amidst the lockdown.
The club chose to mark the day by visiting the Home for the Elderly in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria. The club in her wisdom decided to show love and compassion to persons with special need with emphasis on the elderly who are more vulnerable to the coronavirus.
As a result of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak most homes that rely on public donations and support have gone totally empty as their suppliers, supporters and well wishes are also facing same challenges due to lockdown of their businesses.
Skål International Port Harcourt had a deliberation during their March 2020 general meeting and collectively agreed that the World Skål Day 2020 should be celebrated by donating various items to the Home for the Elderly. Items donated to the home include rice, noodles, sanitaries, detergents, foodstuffs and beverages.
In her remark. the President Tariboba Memberr expresses deep appreciation to her club members for their prompt responses and various donations received in ensuring the visit was a success. She enjoined all members to continue to observe the health instructions issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control especially in the fight against the further spread of the COVID-19.
